DEBORAH
ABELA
When Deb was a small child,
she spent most of her time imagining she was on great adventures all
over the world. When she grew older, she bought a backpack, a plane
ticket and went on them for real. After 3 years she came home, completed
a Bachelor of Communications at UTS, worked in children's TV for seven
years before leaving to write novels about a small girl who goes on
lots of adventures all over the world.

Deb has written
ten Max Remy Superspy books with the 10th book being
the grande finale. The books are: In Search of the Time
and Space Machine, Spyforce Revealed, The
Nightmare Vortex, The Hollywood Mission, The
Amazon Experiment, Blue's Revenge, The
Venice Job, Mission in Malta, The
French Code and The Final Curtain.
She has also completed writing the third book in the immensely
popular series Jasper Zammit (Soccer Legend).
This series follows the trials and tribulations of a boy called
Jasper who is mad about soccer & dreams of playing in the
World Cup.

The Max Remy books
are available in Australia, New Zealand and
have been sold to Simon and Schuster in the USA, Oxford University Press in
the UK and are also available in Greece, Spain and Malta. When she's not writing
or reading, she loves talking to kids and getting them excited about stories,
books and going on their own adventures.
Deb’s most recent novel is The Remarkable Secret of Aurelie Bonhoffen, a quirky and mysterious tale of friends, fire-twirlers and ghosts!

Her experience in the world
of children's TV means her presentations about her work are informative
and entertaining. She is happy to talk to groups of school students
about her novels and also about her scriptwriting and TV work.
Some comments about her presentations
include:
'She
is lively and animated in her approach and obviously enjoys children
- a most enjoyable presenter.'
'Deb had the students intrigued as she delved into the life of Max Remy
Superspy and the life of an author. Her energy and commitment sees students
with a re-energised thirst for reading and writing.'
'Her infectious, bubbly personality and her ability to involve all students
in the discussions and activities made the sessions memorable for all
of us who were involved.'
