NINA
RYCROFT
Nina Rycroft spent what seems like
her entire childhood, painting and drawing however,
it took a while for Nina to call herself an illustrator.

In 1992 Nina graduated from Randwick with a diploma
in graphic design and spent 10 years working
as a designer in both Sydney and London. In London
Nina
met her husband Andy, they moved to Rome for
nine months before settling down in Sydney. It
was her
time in Rome that Nina developed ideas for her
first picture book, Little Platypus,
which was published in 2000 and was a CBCA notable
book in 2001.

In 2003 Nina and her husband Andy moved to the
lower Blue Mountains where they now live with their
children
Charlie (7) and Jayme (3). Since the move, Nina
has been busy working on a number of books including Tricky Little Hippo (with
Jane Bowring) and Elephant
Dance (with Sue Whiting). June 2008
sees the release of Nina’s most exciting work to
date, Boom
Bah! (with Phil Cumming).

Nina’s programs are
enjoyed by all (teachers included) with the format
changing slightly depending
on the age group and book/s she is presenting. Nina’s
presentations are fun and interactive, taking the
audience through all the steps used to create illustrations
for a picture book. Nina brings sketches, original
artwork, press sheets and a dummy that can stretch
the length of ten children! Nina demonstrates some
illustrations techniques before finishing up with
questions and answers.

Nina
offers workshops for smaller groups, where students are given
the opportunity
to try out things they
have learnt during the presentation.
