MICHAEL
STEPHENS
Michael Stephens has an Arts/Law
degree from Sydney University but he published his first book soon after
graduating and has been able to avoid the real world ever since. He
writes something early every morning (birthdays and Christmas included)
while most of the rest of the world is still in bed. Then he does housework
and typing and looks after the needs of his two sons, Ben and Tim.

His two adult novels were
both shortlisted for the Vogel Award and his imaginative children's
stories have been highly acclaimed. Titans and Mudlark
have both been shortlisted for the CBCA Book of the Year Awards, while
Blat Magic was named Best Children's book in the 2002
Queensland Premier's Literary Awards. It was also shortlisted for the
2001 Aurealis Awards and named a Notable Book in the 2002 CBCA Awards.
Other titles include Eddy the Great, The Prince of Kelvin Mall,
Ghost Train, King Coker's Sword, A Flock of Blats and Moxiana.
Michaels' books are consistently
well reviewed, with Magpies stating that he 'has easily earned a deserved
reputation as Australia's premier writer of fantasy for younger readers'.
