Simple
and Sublime – The Handmade
Book
Deb Westbury’s Handmade Book Workshop is a new
way to celebrate books and writing, incorporating poetry
and creative writing exercises. Complexity in form and
content is adapted to all ages and abilities and no-one
fails.

Participants
will make a variety of different styles of books including:
concertina, staple-bound, matchbox, scrolls, albums,
pocketbooks, compendiums, hand stitched, found object
books, the flap book, portfolios, pop-up-fold books.

General
workshops are suitable for Years K-12 and adults. Targeted sessions are also available for HSC Extension English and Art students focusing on Process Journals and for HSC Art students wanting to specifically explore the handmade book in the context of Mixed Media Artwork.

The length of the workshop session is flexible, with introductory session taking half a day, and increasing in complexity and duration up to a week. Week long workshops can include paper-making and paper decoration techniques.
